Pace is a major bedroom community and suburb of Pensacola, located roughly 15 miles from the downtown area and north of Escambia Bay.  Although traditionally agrarian with a focus in lumber and paper production, Pace has seen an exponential rise in development in the last twenty years, making it one of the most desired communities in all of Santa Rosa County – second only to Navarre in terms of population.  Pace is an excellent for families, military service-members, and other potential buyers looking for a good half-way point between jobs or posts – offering a wide selection of public schools, outdoor recreations, and easy commutes to most areas in Northwest Florida.

Neighborhood Make-up

Functioning as the western gateway for those entering Santa Rosa County, Pace has become a major bedroom hotspot in Northwest Florida in recent decades.  Known for good schools, low crime rates, and excellent proximity to shops and medical services – both inside the community, and its surrounding areas – Pace is the perfect place to hunt for single-family residences.  Land and waterfront homes are – on average – of better value than other areas closer to the Gulf, while still providing quality waterfront access along pristine stretches of Escambia Bay.  Neighborhoods such as Hammersmith and Brentwood are popular choices amongst new arrivals to the Pace area.

Dining

Dining in Pace is mainly suburban – consisting largely of a good selection of chain and sit-down restaurants perfect for the family on the go.  Of these choices, locally-owned options such as Socio’s Pizza & Pasta, IHOP, Chili’s, Sonny’s BBQ, and Wasabi House– a top-rated Chinese, Japanese and Sushi restaurant – offer great food, while still maintaining the community atmosphere Pace is known for.

Entertainment & Shopping

Though not a tourist area by any means, Pace still offers a lot of entertainment and shopping options perfect for a relaxing, family outing, or a quiet day off.  For the seasoned bric-a-brac lover, Alyssa’s Antique Depot or Prissy Peacock Consignment is the perfect place to spend a quiet, weekend afternoon pouring over the large selection of clothes, furniture, and other assorted goodies.  Outside of shopping, the Oops Alley Family Entertainment Center offers multi-lane bowling, an arcade, and a sports bar in the back, while Stonebrook Golf Club and several Publix grocery stores are located in Pace.

Attractions

UWF Campus Trails

For the outdoor-type, the UWF Campus Trails are a must-visit.  Located at the University of West Florida, trail options include the West Campus Trails – a series of biking, hiking, and equine trails cutting through the nature preserve located on UWF’s campus – Main Campus Trails, and cross country trails.  The Edward Ball Nature Trail, for example, allows visitors to enjoy a half-mile boardwalk through Thompson’s Bayou – a hardwood swamp home to many local species.

Becks Lake Fish Camp & Wildlife Refuge

Build around a deep bayou of the Escambia River, Beck’s Lake Fish Camp has been a local favorite for over 50 years!  Often seen as one of Northwest Florida’s most important ecological treasures, Beck’s Lake & surrounding areas of the Escambia River are truly beautiful, and the perfect place for a day on the water.  Outside of being of the best fishing areas in all of Northwest Florida, Beck’s Lake also offers boating, hiking, camping, and horse-riding options for interested guests.

Floridatown Park & Boat Ramp

Floridatown Park – located in south Pace – is the perfect casting off point for any boating excursion onto Escambia Bay… and parts beyond.  The park features a concrete, shallow water boat ramp, restrooms, and an eight-foot pier – perfect for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts.  The park also features four pavilions, a playground, and multiple picnic areas.
