Milton, located in Santa Rosa County Florida, is the perfect mix of country and beach. A close drive from several beaches, and smack dab in a heavily forested area, Milton is a town with unique charm and a wide variety of activities for outdoors enthusiasts to enjoy. While it is a small town, a large amount of great and notable Americans have called the wonderful town home at some point in their lives. Today’s blog post explores some of the more interesting individuals from Milton.


David Mark Everett is an Olympic champion runner from Milton, winning bronze in the 800 meter event at the 1991 Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Daniel Ewing was a basketball player who has graced both the NBA and various European leagues, this 6’3 guard was born in Milton.

NFL fans know Cortland Finnegan as cornerback for the Rams, Titans, Dolphins and Panthers.

Bruce Hall is known well to fans of the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos, for his years providing special teams and running back services. He graduated from Milton High School in 2003.

Dayton Hobbs is an interesting figure, and I may end up writing a blog post about him one day. Is he generally considered the creator of tee ball, the small child safe version of America’s past time. He was also the founder and pastor of the Independent Bible Church in Milton.

Heath Slocum is well known to many a golf fan, being a professional golfer on the PGA Tour. In 1992, he graduated Milton High School.

Another familiar name to fans of The PGA and golf, Boo Weekley, was born in Milton, and graduated from local high school Milton High in the year 1992.

A cornerback for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Elijah Williams is a native of Milton and in 1993, he graduated from Milton High.

Lawrence Tynes, a ‘96 graduate from Milton High School, was a NFL placekicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.


Greg Evers was a member of the House of Representatives and the US Senate as a Republican. He was unfortunately killed in a single vehicle car accident near his home in Baker, Florida.

Bolley Johnson served the state of Florida as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, starting in 1978 and ending in 1994. He was the Speaker of the Florida House of Reps for his last two years on the job.

Born in Milton, Kevin Stitt has become an accomplished businessman who operates out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recently, in January 2019, he became Governor of Oklahoma.


Casper Van Dien, leader of Rico’s Roughnecks, accomplished bug killer, and citizen (as well as an actor who has appeared in movies other than Starship Troopers) was born in Milton. Sorry, I’m a Paul Verhoeven fan.
